I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the owners of North Canterbury Locals Magazine on this new initiative and wish them well on their journey of establishing a new publication.
As I write this column we are in Level 2 hopeful that we go to Level 1 shortly. I know we are all looking forward to moving down Alert Levels and I’d ask that everyone continue to follow the rules to ensure this lockdown is as short as possible.

I have spent my time in video conferences which has meant continuing to meet people and help locals - just not in person. Like most of us, the garden has had a bit more attention than usual and the garage has been tidied.
My cat Rupert has enjoyed having me around home more than usual and he has set up a favourite position in the bookcase of my home office.
